HOW TO WIN OASIS 6 PROGRAM :

Nestia CEO, Lou Minomatot

Every foreign entrepreneur has heard about the OASIS program, the program provided by the Korean government in order to train, teach and provide funds to foreigners for them to settle their business in South Korea.

As the OASIS 6 program (competition between foreign future startups to obtain funds from the government) application is currently being conducted, we had the pleasure to interview the past winner of the competition, Lou Minomatot, the CEO of Nestia.

Last year, Lou participated in the OASIS 6 program by introducing her mobile application : Nestia. This application aims to be an all rounder for foreigners coming in South Korea. Daily life tips, visa information, community access,… Nestia has been designed to provide general but necessary information for every foreigner who is planning for coming in Korea.

For you to prepare efficiently for the competition, Lou dedicated some of her time to tell us some advice to win the OASIS program ! Let’s go in depth her insights.

Lou’s feedback : Is OASIS program really worth it ?

Lou explained that participating in the program and especially winning the competition turned out to be really helpful to raise her company in South Korea.

Usually when you think about the outcome of applying for IFC (OASIS 6), the thing that first pops up in mind are the government’s subsidies. However, Lou put emphasis on another good aspect of the program : the administrative assistance. While doing IFC, you’ll get the opportunity to create your Korean bank account and to be accompanied through administrative processes for the company.

Lou’s project : Why Nestia was rewarded ?

When we asked Lou about why her company project stood out from the others, she gave us two reasons : originality and Innovativeness.

She confessed that at that time, her idea project was uncommon compared to the other teams. While most of them focused on marketing matters, she decided to answer to a growing demand : foreigners’ assistance.

She highlighted the fact that it’s important to know well a market and the concurrents.

“I will say that one of the reasons I was selected would be at that time, there wasn't a lot of service for foreigners like I wanted to do, a roadmap with Al.”

— Lou

The second reason she evoked was Innovativeness, more precisely the use of tech and AI.

Before joining OASIS 6, Lou took part of OASIS 5, a more educational program oriented toward entrepreneurship. She learned there that incorporating some tech inside your company project was advised and could really make a difference.

Lou’s advice : How to be ready for the competition ?

The fact that one’s project is inspiring doesn’t necessarily assure the victory.

“You need to prepare a lot.”

— Lou

Lou highlighted the fact that preparation is the key for success. Indeed, while in previous years the candidates had 10min to introduce their ideas, she only had 5min. You have to be catchy in a short period of time to attract jury’s interest.

In less than 5min you should prove that your company has a bright future, and that you know what you’re talking about. Jury will ask specific questions depending on your company field.

It’s been almost two years now that we’re following Lou’s innovative project with Vizabridge Corp. We are truly proud of her achievements and will continue to assist her in her journey for the best.

“You can trust Tom (Vizabridge Corp CEO). He helped me a lot when I was doing OASIS 6, with the money and everything else.”

— Lou
