What I Learned from Standing on the IFC2026 Stage as an MC

hero

Last week, I had the opportunity to serve as the MC for the IFC2026 Foreign Startup Competition, hosted by the AI Innovation Center of Incheon Technopark and operated by VizaBridge.

As an intern, it was a unique experience to be part of an event that brought together entrepreneurs from around the world, each presenting innovative solutions across AI, biotechnology, healthcare, environmental technology, fintech, and other emerging industries. Standing on stage gave me a front-row seat to months, and in many cases years, of hard work condensed into a single presentation.

One lesson stayed with me long after the competition ended.

A great idea is important, but the ability to communicate that idea is just as valuable.

The founders who captured the audience's attention weren't necessarily the ones with the most complex technology. They were the ones who could clearly explain the problem they wanted to solve, why it mattered, and why they were the right people to solve it. Their confidence, preparation, and storytelling transformed technical concepts into compelling visions for the future.

This experience also gave me a deeper insight into how Korea's startup ecosystem works. Behind every pitch is a network of organisations, mentors, judges, and partners working together to create opportunities for entrepreneurs to grow. Supporting startups isn't just about funding or business registration. It's also about creating platforms where founders can gain visibility, receive meaningful feedback, and connect with the people who can help move their ideas forward.

Being part of IFC2026 reminded me that innovation is only one piece of the puzzle. Turning an idea into a successful business also requires resilience, preparation, collaboration, and the ability to tell a story that others believe in.

I'm grateful to have contributed, even in a small way, to an event that celebrated innovation from around the world. Congratulations to every participant, and I look forward to seeing how these ideas continue to grow within Korea's startup ecosystem.
